Skills

Skills are recipes Gray comes with. They run on the brain itself — no external service to connect.

  • Morning brief — pull together your day from connected calendars, email, and tasks.
  • Draft anything — emails, tweets, code, replies, copy.
  • Summarize — long emails, articles, PDFs, transcripts.
  • Web search — when Gray needs current information.
  • Calculate — math, conversions, quick estimates.
  • Image describe — paste an image, Gray tells you what’s in it.
  • Voice memo to note — record a thought; Gray transcribes and files it.

Just ask. Gray picks the right skill — you don’t need to name it.

“Brief me on today” → morning brief skill “Draft a polite no to this” → drafting skill “What does this PDF say?” → summarize skill

On a self-hosted Gray, you can drop your own skill files into skills/ in the brain’s working directory and they show up automatically. Format is plain Markdown with a YAML front-matter block. See Self-host → Bring your own keys for where skills live.
